Double Stranded Weave Bracelet
September 3rd, 2016:

You will learn how to do this double stranded weave stitch and make this beautiful bracelet. Mary teaches you how to end this bracelet with a slide stitch so it will fit all sizes.
Kumihimo Bracelet with Adjustable Closure
September 17, 2016
Time: 10am to 3pm
Instructor: Mary Giordano
Learn how to make this quick and easy bracelet with a sliding closure, so this will fit anyone. I have always shied away from making bracelets to sell or as gifts because everyones wrist size is different, but using this technique this bracelet will fit everyone because it is adjustable.
I’ve always loved working with my hands. Whether cooking or beading, making things gives me great satisfaction.
My business and artistic experiences have taught me that I love learning, that I need challenges, and that I must speak in my own voice.
I’ve explored a number of mediums including seed beadwork, gourd arts, lampworking and kiln glass making, basket weaving, quilting, felting, metal clay, enameling, doll making, photography, wire work, embroidery, weaving and even polymer clay.
My work is strongly informed by my love of color in both natural and manmade worlds: of shapes, especially the spiral and gingko leaf.
Creative expression for me is about play. When I’m working with my hands in any medium, the children inside me get to come out in the sun. In this way, I nurture myself and find my peaceful place in the world.
I tried to resist having an on-line store but I have finally given in! I will be adding beads and yarns to the website every week, I have thousands of pictures to take and then put them on the website. This will be an on going process for many months until I finally have all the pictures taken and posted, so for right now please start checking out what is for sale and have fun shopping, remember call us if you need a product that is not on the website and if I can get it I will gladly order this for you. At the top of our website you will see a link that says “Shop” click this and it will take you to our on-line store.
My newest beads are the 11/0 Demi and 8/0 Demi beads, these are a Toho bead that is half the height of a regular bead and are a sweet, sweet bead! We have a pattern we can give you when you buy the beads to get you started with this shape. Here is a picture of the beaded bracelet isn’t it sweet!
Our Vintage Trunk show was a wonderful event and we were over flowing in the store with people and beads! Thank you Dara for bringing up all of your wonderful beads!
Stayed tuned because we have a lot of new yarns and beads coming in and I will get them posted as soon as I can.
Thank you, Kandra and Julia
Dara will be here August 5, 6 & 7, 2016 for a “Vintage Bead Show”
Don’t miss out on this fabulous selection of vintage beads! This is the last show for the year that Dara will be doing so you need to be thinking about Christmas gifts for yourself and others! Friday – 10am to 5pm Saturday – 10am to 5pm and Sunday – 10am to 2pm
Summer is upon us and it is starting off with blue skies and warm weather, no June gloom!
We have new yarn coming in every week and new beads all the time. Our latest yarn is Wonderland Yarns, this yarn is beautiful and feels really nice, not to mention the colors are just beautiful. They are a 5 skein mini pack, each skein is 86 yards or 1 oz, this yarn is 100% superwash merino. We received in 16 different color ways, come in and take a look they are beautiful! I have my project all picked out.
We have some cute kits that just came in from a company called Delicious Yarns, we have 6 different kits that will really be cute for a summer project.
I love containers and I just ordered in 3 shapes that will be great for tchotchkes (knickknacks, baubles or trinkets). Stitch markers will fit great in these cute containers, as will candy or anything you can think of.
We have a new line of yarn called Caña Ruca which means “Sugar Cane” it is the softest yarn and I can’t wait to use it in a project.
I don’t want to forget about two other yarns one is the Freia Ombré it is so beautiful, we just placed another order and should receive it in a few days. I was really surprised how quickly it sold but then when something is that beautiful you just have to have it!
Our other yarn is the Shibui Yarn, this is a luscious, beautiful yarn that feels really nice and is a joy to work with.
We have started a drawing for each month, you need to guess how many origami stars are in the container to win some yarn and a pattern. Each month it will be different and a different prize, for every $10.00 you spend you receive one ticket to fill out. The contest goes from the first of the month to the end of the month, when we figure out who has picked a number closest to the winning number.
Come and join us for some fun summer classes or just to hang out and knit or bead.
We are now open on Sundays from 11am to 4pm.
Thank you, Kandra and Julia
